ASSIGNMENT 16


Framing of shot and movement of camera.

  • EVS      -   Extreme Wide Shot
  • VWS     -   Very Wide Shot,
  •  WS       -   Wide Shot
  • MS       -     Medium Shot
  • CU        -     Close Up
  • ECU      -     Extreme Close Up
  • CA        -      Cutaway

Camera Movement.

In shooting a film scene, the following basic camera movements are used:

PAN                   involves moving the camera left to right with no vertical movement.
TILT                   involves moving the camera lens up and with no horizontal movement.
ZOOM               in or out by manipulating the camera focal length to make it appear as if the camera is  
                           moving towards or away from the subject.
FOLLOW          is the term used when the cameraman follows the subject while walking.
PEDESTAL        moving the camera up or down without changing its vertical or horizontal axis. In
                           another word moving the entire camera up and down as oppose to tilting in which the
                           camera lens is move up and down.
DOLLY              is a term used when the cameraman move the camera towards or away from the
                           subject. Usually the camera is mounted on a platform that runs on track.
TRUCKING       Almost similar to Dolly but the movement is to left or to the right.
